First Birthday Tips
- Keep the party short (between 1-1½ hours) and try to avoid nap times where possible.
- There are a limited number of games that can be played with one year olds, so keep them busy by putting out a basket of toys on a play mat or blanket.
- If you are out in the garden, why not have the bubble machine on. Young children are fascinated by bubbles.
- Try to reserve one room for changing and one as a quiet room should anyone need a nap.
- If older children are going to be there, it would be a good idea to have some party games to hand and some snacks prepared.
- Have a few snacks for the adults too.
Nursery Rhyme Sing-Song
- Ask the parent or helper to sit in a circle holding their child.
Sing a number of popular nursery rhymes, making actions where appropriate. Popular nursery rhymes include :
- The Wheels on the Bus
- Old MacDonald
- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
- Humpty Dumpty
- Incy Wincy Spider
- If you're happy and you know it
